An ex drug-addict himself, Nasir felt very ashamed of his addicted past. He was very hard on himself, and could see similar feelings in a lot of his “street clients”. He realized, “These people needed to engage in some sort of intimacy between another human that actually cared about them”. So Nasir putt his craft to good use.  “The Street Barber” was born. Having gone through similar situations, Nasir feels he can ask hard-hitting questions, and really get to know his “street clients” on a personal level. The tattooed barber doesn’t have a hard time starting up a conversation since he has such great conversation pieces all over his body. Nasir has gotten a new tally tattoo each year, representing each year sober. Nasir says, “What I’m doing is my way of giving back. It’s my way of repaying my gratitude for being sober and healthy again.” As much as it helps him feel as though he’s giving back, Nasir has so much more of an impact on his “street clients”.

Showing people there are humans out there that care is what makes the biggest difference. In the midst of helping yourself, you can be helping others just as much… or more! So, what will you do with your day? Featured photo credit: Nasir Sobhani via instagram.com
